Volunteers are the heart of Slough Museum.
Join our wonderful volunteers, meet people, build up your CV and make new friends.
- Learn about Slough’s history;
- Learn new skills – for example historical research techniques, archive and artefact handling and management;
- Help to collect new material, including oral histories;
- Help to share Slough’s heritage with others.
We are looking for volunteers to help us with the following:
- Events and activities volunteers – to help us deliver and document events and activities.
- Collections volunteers – to help with cataloguing and conserving the collection.
- Local history research volunteers – to help us discover and share more about people and places in Slough.
- Trustees – trustees are essential for the governance of the Museum.

We are actively encouraging students to apply for their work experience with Slough Museum – we are happy to help!

Richard Hayward
Slough resident, Richard joined our team 3 years ago. ‘Initially I was interested in research and documenting the collection. Now I especially enjoy meeting and greeting people at events.’
Sam Denham
Slough resident, ‘I was drawn to Slough’s huge historical photo archive. Documenting and archiving the images allowed me to explore the stories behind the pictures.’
Mohammad Ali
Slough resident, Mohammad graduated from university and is taking his sabbatical. ‘I was keen to learn how to work in an organization, whilst figuring out my career choices.’

Slough resident, Jessie works with Antz Kidz. ‘Whilst teaching with Antz Kidz in the Slough Museum venue, I got to know the team and enjoyed working alongside them.’
